HEATHERSLAW CORN MILL – MICRO HYDRO

Heatherslaw Mill is home to a 19th century water driven cornmill. Traditional methods and original machinery powered by the River Till are still used at the mill to grind locally grown wheat into wholemeal flour. The huge water wheel, mill stones and gearing can all be seen at Heatherslaw. Due to weak grid connection in the area and also the fact that the mill has little internal heating a feasibility study has been undertaken which considered using a 10kW hydro turbine to generate power for the site.
